# Download and Install Desktop App

Step 1: Download and Install the ExaCompute Desktop App

Follow the instructions below to download and install the ExaCompute Desktop App for your operating system. The app is available for macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows (x64), and Linux (x64).

### For macOS (Apple Silicon)

1. **Download**:
   * Visit <https://release.exadrivecdn.com/>.
   * Click on the **`exa_protocol_client_1_0_1.dmg (arm)`** link to download the `.dmg` file.
2. **Install**:
   * Open the downloaded `.dmg` file from your **Downloads** folder.
   * Drag and drop the ExaCompute app icon into your **Applications** folder.
3. **Allow App in Security & Privacy**:
   * Since the app is self-signed, macOS Gatekeeper may block it. You will see a warning message like:

     ```
     "Apple could not verify 'exa_protocol_client***.dmg' is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy."
     ```
   * To proceed:
     * Open **System Settings > Privacy & Security**.
     * Scroll to the **Security** section.
     * Click **Allow Anyway** next to the ExaCompute app.
4. **Launch**:
   * Open the app from your **Applications** folder.

### For Windows (x64)

1. **Download**:
   * Visit <https://release.exadrivecdn.com/>.
   * Click on the **`exa_protocol_client_1_0_1.exe (x64)`** link to download the `.exe` file.
2. **Install**:
   * Locate the downloaded `.exe` file in your **Downloads** folder.
   * Double-click on it to run the installer.
   * Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
3. **Launch**:
   * Once installed, search for "ExaCompute" in the Start menu and open it.

### For Linux (x64)

1. **Download**:
   * Visit <https://release.exadrivecdn.com/>.
   * Click on the **`exa_protocol_client_1_0_1.run (x64)`** link. *(Coming soon)*
2. **Install & Launch**:
   * Follow installation instructions once available.

By following these steps, you can successfully download and install the ExaCompute Desktop App for your operating system.
